PaddleWise listserver policy:
- The goal of PaddleWise is to provide a friendly gathering place
for paddlers to ask questions, provide answers and information,
exchange ideas, suggestions, and post articles and trip reports.
Please treat your fellow paddlers with respect when you post a
message or reply to the list. Flaming is not tolerated on
PaddleWise.
- Remember to edit your replies by not including the entire
message to which you are replying. Delete the parts that are
not relevant and delete the PaddleWise trailer. Continued
unedited messages may cause your messages to be edited by
the listowner, in the event of recurring non-editing your email
may simply disappear.
- Avoid the temptation to send single line messages such
as "ME Too!" or "Count Me In!" Etc.
- If you have a jpeg or gif image you would like to share
with PaddleWise members, please announce that the image is
available for anyone via email or that you have it on the
web and announce the URL. Do not send jpeg or gif images
to the list.
- Commercial promotion and advertising is not allowed.
However, a simple four-line by-line in your signature stating the
name of your business and contact information is generally
acceptable.
- Do not forward private email to the list without permission
from the original sender.
- Do not forward copyrighted materials (this includes *any*
original writings/email/articles/etc. written by another whether
or not a copyright notation is visible) to the list without the
original author's permission. Announce the URL of the document/
article/etc. that you wish to share with the list (a brief
description of the contents or paraphrasing is ok). Fair use
in copyright laws allows reference to a copyrighted document/
article/etc. that is not a whole, exact copy of the document/
article/etc.
- Regardless of how important you may think it is, never
forward chain email or virus warnings of any type to the list.
- Please direct administrative questions and requests to
owner-paddlewise@paddlewise.net and not the list.
- Email addresses may not be collected from PaddleWise posts
for the sending of unsolicited advertisements or unsolicited
bulk email (UBE, UCE, spam) whether commercial or not.
- PaddleWise posts and subscriber email addresses may not be
reproduced, forwarded, or redistributed outside the PaddleWise list
without the permission of the author.
-
If you decide to use a vacation notice when you are out PLEASE use one
that only notifies an email address once while you are away. If I get
reports that someone is using one of the inept vacation notifications
that reply to every email I will bounce your subscription.
Bouncing a subscription consists of unsubscribing you from paddlewise and
subscribing you to a bounces list. When on the bounces list you will be
notified once a day, for about a week, that you've been unsubscribed.
You will need to resubscribe on your own.
- I consider it the responsibility of each subscriber of
the mailing list to use an ISP that is capable of receiving email. If
there is a problem with an ISP I consider it the responsibility of the
subscriber to work out any issues with their ISP. I'm quite willing to
assist if there is an issue, I've learned a tidbit or two about email,
and can do my best to point people in the right direction (sometimes done
as providing the text to send to support). I can't guarantee success.
-
If a subscriber uses an ISP/configuration that causes me to get
bounce messages, it is the subscribers responsibility to make the bounce
messages stop. After a few messages about making the bounces stop I will
unsubscribe the user. I don't like doing that but I've got better things
to do than read unjustified bounces. If you use hotmail, you can expect
this to happen. I highly recommend not subscribing via with a hotmail account.
