I think disabling the WHO command, for anyone but the list admin is a good
idea. No sense giving spammers free access to a whole bunch of
"fresh" email addresses.

I know I disabled the who command when I hosted the baidarka mailing list
at my site.

Woodstock? You mean I will miss it again?

In my opinion it is very bad form to disable the "who" command. I don't
believe that the membership of this forum should be kept secret. Howard
kept the "who" command enabled on Wavelength, and I yet I haven't
received more than one or two spams over the past year (other than those
posted to the list itself). I hope that Jackie has a better motive than
"spamophobia" for disabling this command. Let's keep this list out in
the open. Sunshine and fresh air. What say you, Jackie?

In my opinion, it is very bad form to enable the "who" command. Which
mailing lists I belong to is my private affair, and unless I choose
to make myself visible (by sending a note to the mailing list) I ought
to be able to lurk in peace and without worrying about abuses (spam
and otherwise) facilitated by the "who" command.

No mailing list that I have ever run supports this function. None
ever will.
