Have you got a good suggestion for keeping the water in one place?
I know I wouldn't want any ballast shifting around.  

I've rolled a couple of baidarkas which have removable lead/steel Bballast.
They definitely were easier to roll with the ballast in place, as 
the boats with ballast in place "wanted" to be upright.  These boats have 
about a 17" beam and use the ballast to lower the center of gravity, not 
adjust trim.
