There are many things to consider when buying a tent and I'm sure others
will fill you in on most of them.  A few of my considerations:
1.  Weight, because I also backpack so it's got to be light.
2.  Quality, because it's used in a harsh environment and I want it to last.
3.  A vestibule or separate dining fly, for cooking and sitting in the rain.
4.  A net roof, for those clear nights so you can see the sky all night.

Good luck.  You can get hooked on this stuff, just like kayaks.  I've
accumulated 5 tents over the years.  I think the best are North Face and Moss.
