The biggest difference between that experience and the real world is just how tiny all the kayaks are. In a living room, they seem and are immense. Out on open water they are puny. Regarding leads on other foldables, you should say something about your husband's body type (other than you probably find his adorable ;-)) as this does make a difference. You might consider a new or used Nautiraid single as the new ones are not all that costly, just around $2100. Used ones would be around $1500. Or why not just another K-Light unless size may be a problem.
