I started with a heavy aluminum paddle from LL Bean in a Keowee, but that
doesn't really count since it was banished years ago. My first serious
paddle was a 230 cm Werner Camano graphite 1 piece feathered 45 degrees
(right handed). Light, but seemed to get me there slower than my partners.
I also began to develop tendonitis of the right elbow on long trips or
after multiple days of paddling. I switched 2 years ago to a Vitudden
graphite take apart, 360 degrees vaiable feathering, 230 cm as well, larger
blade. I generally have this with a slight feather (20 degrees) for a
little wrist movement but rarely feather more other in high winds. My
paddling speed is much better, no tendonitis, paddle ways 27 0z. I have
tried many other paddles but really prefer this one. My 9 year old uses the
Camano and loves it. The smaller blade face is better for his arm strength.
