Ron,

For bow flotation in kayaks with no forward bulkhead such as yours, you might want
to look into the inflatable storage-flotation bags made by Voyager.  Called
"Tour-Stow" bags, they come in 4 sizes and have a large, sealable opening to fit
stuff into.  Then once they're sealed, there's a long tube you blow them up with to
get max flotation.  They are shaped to conform to the hull/deck of the yak and are
*really* waterproof, not like the roll-down dry-bags which will leak when submerged.
 They're a little spendy, but worth it I think.  Voyager's number is 1-800-843-8985.
