hopefully nobody will take offense at me posting this, but i have always forwarded "interesting news" of canoes and kayaks... anyone know anybody that can say _they_ were born in a canoe??!! ---- *** Indian from Amazon jungle to study at Oxford A Peruvian Amazonian Indian who was born in a canoe and lived by fishing for piranha and hunting armadillo has won a scholarship to study at Oxford In England. Miguel Hilario Manenima, 27, will spend a year at the university's Mansfield College reading politics and economics. Manenima, whose name means "he who travels," is the first member of the 30,000-strong, semi-nomadic Shipibo Conibo tribe ever to leave the Amazonian Jungle to study abroad. Until he was 13, Manenima spent his days hunting and fishing. He said his ambition to travel came from a National Geographic magazine left behind by a missionary.
