Along with retail sales we also taught people to kayak. We lived on the Sandy River in Oregon and had the perfect venue for instruction and *fun*. We had a put in/ take out/ play spot right out the back door! Business grew and we moved to Portland. We now teach, guide and sell lots of folks on paddlesports! Kind of a *boats R Us*. We generally paddle some together, but I find I spend more time in the field guiding and Cindy spends more time in the day to day operations of the store. :( We do manage to take some *quality* time off together to paddle. This spring we're doing a 6 day trip down the Columbia River and this fall we're doing a 22 day Grand Canyon trip :) The love for the sport and each other has never been stronger.
