Inland Lakes:

I have found that basic weather radios provide about 50% coverage at best
of Lake Superior's shoreline from US and Canadian broadcast points, and
that includes using about a 7' wire (speaker wire) attached via an
alligator clip to the regular antenna. Strung out into a tree on some high
point, I have gotten a signal from distances ranging from less than 20
miles to over 100 ( Sault Ste. Marie to Michipicoten Island). Fog seems to
limit range, and signals to the Apostle Islands are usually shadowed by the
hills of the Chequamegon Peninsula.
