the reason i carry an emergency mylar survival bag rather than a blanket
(which is half the price) is that i was told in my BCU training that by
climbing into it in the water the heat loss would be lessened, by virtue of
both the radant barrier of the metallicized mylar, and the effect of the bag
keeping the same volume of water in contact with you, rather than an ever
changing mass of cold water.
haven't tried it out as of yet, though
