[Paddlewise] Waterproof

Re waterproofing, I have a friend, upon buying anything that is said to be
"waterproof", he puts it in a padded bag & throws it in the washer for a full
cycle!! A lot of stuff fails, thereupon he returns it as faulty. Personally, I
think that his test is a bit extreme. I tend to subject products to tests that
are more representative of the circumstances under which they were intended to
perform.
