Hey all,

I received a reply from Garmin regarding the waterproofness of my GPS 48:

     Thank you for your inquiry.

The GPS 48 meets mil spec IEC 529 IPX4 for waterproofness to 1 meter

for 30minutes. These does not mean to take the unit swimming, but
it
certainly should handle your water environment.

Our software is a dos based kit, if you have a dos emulator it
should
work. However, we do not have a cable made for a mac, you would
have
     to wire this yourself.

The second paragraph was a reply to a query about using a Mac with the
Garmin. I know there are Mac users out there, what are you folks using for
cables/software. I looked at the Topo! website, they mention the Mac, but
don't have any specific option to purchase the Macintosh version of the
software. Anyone using this?
