I want to thank everyone who responded to my query on the Falcon vs Nordkaap. I got a clear sense that this was a boat that was really appreciated by it's (her??!!) owners. I have decided to go for the Nordkapp for the following reasons in no particular order: The local Eddyline dealer is a flake and Eddyline will not sell trough my favorite dealer, a former Eddyline shop. I'd have to order the boat anyway since the dealer has no Kevlar Falcons in stock. The Valley dealers have a kevlar/carbon Nordkaap with an oval cockpit in stock. I was able to touch it, paddle it and lift it over my head ...weighed in at 37 lbs.. The response from all the Nordkapp owners was very positive. No response from the Falcon 18 folks, but I know a couple of oyu lover the boat. The Skeg is a nice feature..the boat tracks reasonably well without it but once it is deployed just a little, the boat tracks like it is on rails. The 18 is a solid tracker, but I have no experience with handling the boat..only had a short paddle. I understand that the rough water handling of the Nordkapp is excellent...but the Falcon 18 shares the same capability, I'm told. My friendly dealer is giving me a schvell deal on the Nordkapp... Have any of you Nordkapp owners cut out the seat and replaced it with the foam seat from the plastic Skerry? Any tips on outfitting in general?
