There are all sorts of adhesives out there for use with hypalon
patches.  Any will do.  Also Barge Cement works.  Treat the repair as
you would an inner tube.  Lightly sand the area to be patched and the
patch itself in most cases.  Put on the cement via instructions.  If it
is the cement used for hypalon, you should apply to both surfaces.  Wait
15-20 minutes, reapply some more cement.  Wait 15 minutes.  Then press
on the patch pushing out any airbubbles.  Paint stores have little
rollers that cost next to nothing that will work well although even the
blunt end of a spoon or knife or dowel will do.  You could put a third
application of the contact cement if you wish before finally putting on
the patch.  I have done little patching ever of any folding kayak I have
(two or three and one just for practice when I had a bit of abrasion on
my first boat) but they have all held well for at least a half dozen
years using this process.  Please remember to round out all corners of
the patch.  Right angle ends tend to catch and start the process of the
patch coming loose.

If it is only a small tear or hole you could skip the patch method and
just put on the Aqua Seal.  Or if lazy just some good duct tape; it
holds for years.
