Dave, there are a lot of good articles out there --- John Heath's
among them. And now that Chuck Holst's article is available on the
web, I'd start there. It's one of the best.

     Others ---

John Heath's "The Do-It-Yourselfer's Greenland Paddle", Sea Kayaker,
Winter '87, referenced in Chuck Holst's work.

An earlier John Heath article, "The Narrow Blade: Theory and
Practice", Sea Kayaker, Summer '86 --- and there may be a follow-on to
that article by John Heath with some corrections --- but I can't find
     it.

Alan Anderson's (Betsie Bay Kayaks) "Greenland Paddle Technique",
Atlantic Coastal Kayaker, March '93 --- as it sounds: techniques for
<using> Greenland paddles, not for crafting them.

Peter Gengler's "Make your own Greenland style storm paddle", Atlantic
     Coastal Kayaker, March '94.

Getting to these may be easier than it used to be. ACK has a good
website with a lot of info, although I haven't tested it for these
articles. Sea Kayaker may also be accessible on line, too. If anyone
tries these, please let the list know if you have success.

You've got some of the nicest cross-grain spruce in the world at a
small lumber yard out near the Juneau Airport, Dave --- wanna go into
the business of supplying the PaddleWise list paddle-makers?

     Joq

All this talk about Greenland style paddles has whetted my desire to
make one - does anyone have some good sources for instructions, design
info, etc. I did see Joq's reference to "the John Hough articles", but
I don't really know where to begin looking for them. Any pointers would
be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave
