Folks, This summer I am going to paddle around a small island in the Mediterranean. I am planning to give a presentation for my club afterwards, but that would be my first presentation, so let me ask you: What would you like to see on a presentation of a trip report? Are you interested on the paddling only or would you like to learn about the history and culture of the place? Do you expect some emphasis on the weather conditions predominant in the area, and the best time of the year to paddle? How long a video would you watch without falling asleep? Would you like some side comedy on the video, or just plain facts? Do you prefer slides or videos? If anyone has experience documenting an expedition or trip, could you give me some pointers or advice? Thanks for your help, - Julio (still considering whether to buy a boat here, ship mine, or get a foldable, meanwhile I am training twice a week to be able to paddle many miles without exhaustion) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************

That includes everything except shipping which would be around $40 at most, I would guess. Not a bad deal at all. I am not affiliated with the company, Folding Kayak Adventures, but it is reputable. ralph -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Diaz . . . Depends on how good a story-teller you are and how good the story is. Most of the time I am very interested in the background of the places I visit. > Do you expect some emphasis on the weather conditions predominant in > the area, and the best time of the year to paddle? Some -- I think if I were seriously thinking about paddling there, I'd remember you gave a talk and call you up before I went. > How long a video would you watch without falling asleep? > Would you like some side comedy on the video, or just plain facts? > Do you prefer slides or videos? I really find videos limiting, and well-composed slides fascinating. Slides provide better random access for recalling areas or scenes in response to questions, and are many times easier to put together to make a talk. A lot of this depends on your style, though Julio -- are you comfortable "carrying" the story with your own narrative, or would you be intimidated by that? If the latter, perhaps a video might be the better route.
