Because my reading comprehension level is high and my cash flow is not -- at least not high enough right now to finance a trip to the coast for some more instruction, I decided some book learning would benefit me. I'm looking for suggestions on books on sea kayaking. I found a list of books at this site: http://osprey.anbg.gov.au/jrc/kayak/books.html Dowd, John. 1988. Sea kayaking - a manual for long distance touring. University of Washington Press, Seattle. 303 pp. Foster, Nigel. 1991. Sea Kayaking. Fernhurst Books, Brighton, East Sussex. Harrison, David. 1993. Sea kayaking basics. Hearst Marine Books. Paperback ~$15. Hutchinson, Derek. The complete guide to sea kayaking. Hutchinson, Derek. Derek C. Hutchinson's Guide to Sea Kayaking. Globe Peqot Press, Connecticut. Siedman, David. 1992. The Essential Sea Kayaker - a complete course for the open water padler. Ragged Mountain Press, Camden ME. 144 pp. Washburne, Randel. 1993 (2nd ed.). The coastal kayaker's manual - a complete guide to skills, gear and sea sense. Globe Pequot Press, Connecticut. 256 pp. Wyatt, Mike. 1990. The basic essentials of sea kayaking. ICS Books, Merrillville, Indiana. 64 pp. That site also listed Ralph Diaz's book, "The Complete Folding Kayak," but since I don't have a folding kayak, I thought one of the more general works might be best. Sorry, Ralph. Suggestions from these books or others would be heartily welcomed. One of them was discussed on Wavelength a while back. I think it was called "Grace Under Pressure" or something like that. Maybe some other former or current Wavelength subscribers could correct me if I've got it wrong.
