Regarding carrying a condom & it's many uses, latex medical gloves are handy for pretty much the same purposes. Another use is to fill them with water, put a pin hole in them & use them to irrigate (wash) wounds or eyes. Further, When Audrey Sutherland spoke to our club, she addressed those aluminum & plastic bladders from wine boxes as water carriers. At first I was skeptical, but I have since used them with great success. They are vulnerable to punctures from sharp edges. But handled with moderate care, they work great. I went on a trip to Baja with about eight paddlers. (Baja is a desert) We carried all of our water for ten days in them. I seem to remember about sixty bags. In the ten days, only one developed a leak! We generally serve wine at our club meetings, & as the wine boxes approach empty, folks start circling to claim the empties.
