   Regarding carrying a condom & it's many uses, latex medical gloves are
handy for pretty much the same purposes. Another use is to fill them with
water, put a pin hole in them & use them to irrigate (wash) wounds or eyes. 
  Further, When Audrey Sutherland spoke to our club, she addressed those
aluminum & plastic bladders from wine boxes as water carriers. At first I was
skeptical, but I have since used them with great success. They are vulnerable
to punctures from sharp edges. But handled with moderate care, they work
great. I went on a trip to Baja with about eight paddlers. (Baja is a desert)
We carried all of our water for ten days in them. I seem to remember about
sixty bags. In the ten days, only one developed a leak! We generally serve
wine at our club meetings,
& as the wine boxes approach empty, folks start circling to claim the empties.
