Bill,

The Raven does have a tendency to weathercock, but to compensate, it
lean turns easier than just about any other touring kayak I've
tried. When I start getting tired from correcting, I put the
rudder down and take a break.

I find I prefer the Ravens nimble nature to a more traditional
but harder to turn attitude. My son doesn't like my Raven and has the
rudder down all the time when paddling it (he's 26). This kayaking "thang"
is very personal. To each her own.

The most fun I've ever had on a kayak was this weekend when I test drove
a stubby little sit on top called the "Riot" (believe made by Dagger).
You could turn that little guy 360 degrees by exhaling into the wind
(slight exageration :-) The little thing was so short I'm sure it will
fit in the back of my truck, once I get Eunju's grudging permission to
buy it. She thinks I look like a dork sitting on it. I told her I
would only paddle it when she wasn't around, besides, I look like a
dork even when I'm not sitting on it.

Dave,
I also have an Eddyline Raven and my SO has a Current Designs
Solstice. The amount of weathercocking of the Raven seems extraordinary to
me compared to the Solstice. In a 15 knot crosswind, my SO in the Solstice
just paddles along with practically no correction strokes. I, on the hand,
am doing a correction every third stroke. I'd be interested in what your
experience has been and the experience of any other Raven owner, for that
matter.
