I took a first responder course (that's a first aid program in the US with
about 40 hours of class time) given by our local fire department last year.
They no longer use air splints. If memory serves they said that there
were problems with circulation being cut off. Does anyone have any comment
on this, or recommendations for splints for wilderness first aid? The SAM
splint seems like a good idea. I suppose being able to improvise with
materials at hand like the ex-medic (was that George Bergeron) is a great
idea.
