I own a poly Necky sea kayak.  According to manufacturers instructions,
they recommend hanging from wide slings, placed at the bulkheads.  I 

I purchased 3" wide webbing and hang my yak on its side in my garage.  It
sat there all winter and nary a dent or depression. Might be worth a try.  

If you require further particulars please advise.
