When I posted my angst-riddled plea regarding a possible Water Trail in
my area, I did not know the following was in the works:

Turns out Sea Grant (State of Washington version) and other
organizations are promoting a Columbia River Water Trail, to run from
Bonneville Dam to the mouth of the River, at a symposium in Portland,
OR, May 15, 16, and 17. Here is the URL for the News Release:

An excerpt from the news release:

> Kayak paddlers, wildlife refuge managers, and anyone interested in
> improving non-motorized boating access to the lower
> Columbia River will have an opportunity to help plan and prioritize
> improvements during the ³Lower Columbia Paddlers
> Symposium² May 15-17, in Portland.
>
> "The symposium participants will work together to produce
> recommendations for a Washington/Oregon action plan that will
> improve river access for kayaking, canoeing and other types of non-
> motorized boating along the Columbia River between the
> Bonneville Dam and the Pacific Ocean," said Bob Goodwin, coastal
> resources specialist for Washington Sea Grant Program
> and one of the symposium organizers.

And, the URL for a description of the program:
