I just learned of the Stearns "SAR" Flotation Vest. Its whole top half is mesh, which is good in the summer and is great if you wear gore-tex. The bottom is international orange. It has two large velcro pockets with drain holes. See: http://lifesaving.com/pfd/rescpfd.htm My only criticism is that the mesh should have also been done in orange and the price is $15 more than similar vests from Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops (which lack the orange color and reflective tape). Anyone know of a better-endowed vest, or someone selling this one for less than $62? Copy from the Web site Ken mentions: > "SAR" Flotation Vest > We have taken the Search and Rescue Vest and added a soft, > lightweight mesh designed for comfort and ventilation. Soft flotation > foam adds extra comfort. > Tough, nylon oxford outershell material. > Two 1.5" encircling adjustable body belts and one adjustable. > chest strap and zipper front. I suspect this is a lot to get for the $62 -- and perhaps better than many of the more expensive "high end" units sold in paddleshops. Ugly color, though. You'd never get me into anything so unflattering. <G> -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR Not a Stearns guy, but I did inhale, once. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
