After all the discussion going on about waste removal, I came across some ideas in the May/98 issue of Backpacker Magazine(page 178). Three of the items mentioned are: The Vaude Wilderness Waste System, essential a leak proof bag that opens at both ends. The top for placement of waste & the bottom for removal of waste once you're back from your trip. Price is $19-$25, depending on size. They list their web site as http://www.vaude.com & phone # (800)447-1539. Intelligent Products, Inc., Nature Calls. Kit includes degradable "trail mitts" & a plastic bag for packing it back after your trip. The review does state that the plastic transport sack isn't very sturdy. $2.55 for one kit which is supposed to meets the needs of an average person for 2 nights and 3 days. Phone # given is (800)697-6084. Wilderness Packer John. For the more comfort minded :). A modified seat made from 1 inch PVC-type pipe made for the sole purpose of placing over a "cat hole". Unfortunately nothing included for packing out the waste, a product made for comfort sake I guess. It breaks down into 3 pieces a & is allegedly easy to assemble. $14.95, weight is one pound. (888)290-1679 or e-mail at PackerJohn_at_aol.com. The Vaude system seems to be better suited to our needs. I hope these suggestions help give ideas. _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
