	The Appalachian Mountain Club here in the east (USA) holds
annual weekend clinics at which you are taught skills and you can
demonstrate your ww abilities.  You aquire a class II or III rating and
are then permitted to go on any of the chapter trips of that rating.

	If you fail to get the rating you're given concise reasons on
why you failed and on the things you need to work on.
