Hello all, I'm planning a trip to the Broken Group in early June, and I wonder what people know about the availability (and quality) of fresh water on the islands. One source suggested that much of the "fresh" water (in streams, I guess) is brackish. A person at Pacific Rim HQ suggested bringing all your water. The park's info sheet says that "some campsites are located near small, seasonal streams, but during summer months, fresh water is very hard to find." I guess the first week of June is a "summer month," but it is still the cusp of the changing seasons... The park's web page says "see the chart," re freshwater sources, and the chart shows water on most of the campsite islands. A fresh water source on Gibralter is supposed to be reliable. The well on Hand was reported by Ince and Kottner to have been vandalized, but the chart still shows it. Has it been repaired, or is the chart inaccurate? (it postdates the report of vandalism). And so on... Things are not clear. My predicament is that I'll be paddling a K-light, with limited cargo capacity-- a gallon a day for 7 days would max out the boat's payload, and I would like to have a little room in there for a granola bar or two... So some first-hand information regarding the availability of fresh water here would be very helpful. Thanks a bunch, Arthur Arthur M.
