Re: [Paddlewise] Ban jet skis in the national parks

As an enthusiastic paddler and jet skier, I have to ask why anyone would want to
make that much of a disruption in a National Park. Hell, I even paddle more
quietly in a wilderness situation. At 56, the testosterone rush may be somewhat
diminished, but I have to admit that most jet skiers are inconsiderate idiots.
There are plenty of areas designated for water skiing and jet skis, and I don't
find my fundamental freedoms much curtailed by confining my jet skiing to those
areas. I feel that areas should be designated for jet skiing, and that jet skiing
should be confined only to those areas. National Parks and other wilderness and
semi-wilderness areas have too much important non-human activity to be disrupted
by the noise, wakes, and visual impact of jet skis. If Congress is swayed by the
proponent argument, it is only because this is an election year, and election$
co$t lot$ of money.

The Oregon congressional delegation is unanimously opposed - make sure that yours
is also. Write, phone, e-mail (in that order) all of your Congresscritters on this
one.
