John, Thanks for posting the location of Dr. Wilde's article on risk. I certainly won't argue with his conclusions. Applying them to kayaking and canoeing--and here I'm talking specifically about touring, not playboating, capsizing needs to be recognized as a failure. With the emphasis on bracing and rolling, failure tends to be defined as a blown roll.
