For what it's worth, there is a commercial kayak cart on the market 
called "Roll Eze" (as I remember) with BIG balloon tires (wheels are very 
wide but only about 10 inches tall), especially made for rolling through 
sand.  The unit breaks down and can be stowed in the hatch.  I saw them 
at a local paddling shop in New Orleans for 105.00.  I almost bought one 
on the spot, but like a lot of you, I balked at the 100+ price.  The unit 
looked very good for rolling through deep sand, however...much better 
than most of the other commercial units I have seen.

BTW, I'm not involved with this as a plug in anyway...just passing on 
info.  The carts have been known to roll.
