A friend of mine who lives near Bellingham said the local newspaper listed the cause of death as drowning but he most likely went unconscious from hypothermia first. I didn't read the article and she said there was not much information in it. He was from Orcas Island I guess. I'll be talking with George Gronseth later this week so I'll ask him what he knows. Rex >A hypothermic sea kayaker was found in the water west of Lumi Island around 1:30 PM today and is in the hospital in Bellingham Washington. Sargent Frakes was calling around to kayakers in the community to try to get help identifying him this afternoon. I called the Bellingham Police Department a few minutes ago and they said they did finally identify him and his family is on the way. I was told they are still rewarming him. The victim is a white male weighing about 180 lbs. with dark hair and a beard. He was wearing glasses. His boat was a Northwest Cadence with a grey deck and a white hull.
