re: the "breathing tube" subject that Clyde Sisler brought up.... I recall reading an article (in Sea Kayaker?) by Steph Dutton that treated the same subject. He rigged up a mouthpiece and a tube that led down through his skirt and into the body of the kayak. He apparently used the device successfully on at least one occasion while being tossed around in the winter surf on a trip along the Oregon coast. More "hang-time"? Anybody else tried anything like this? My personal opinion tends towards the "gadgets induce a false sense of security" school of thought, but some devices do truly belong in our "safety arsenal".
