One of my three Pygmy's is an Expedition, which was later called a Coho. Boat tracks well, not as well as my GoldenEye, but course corrections are easy with edging. The boat is very dry with the deck sloped as it is, 2 1/2' waves disipate (sp) before getting to the cockpit. It holds a weeks worth of gear, I have the hatches and bulheads installed and has great stability. Don't put a rudder on until you've paddled it, I don't think you'll want to as it turns easily. Only thing I wish it had was a flat spot in front of the cockpit to mount a compass. Pygmy has very good phone support and will let you try all of thier boatsany time you want in Pt. Townsend, call for weekend appointments. Had the same problem on my Pygmy Osprey Std. (same deck profile, I think). Took a PVC pipe cap (black was sexier than white, so I used that) in the 4-inch diameter, and carved a notch in the open part to fit the hull profile (easier than it sounds -- make a template). Two holes and a bungie with clips on each end fixed the pipe cap to the forward padeyes of the deck bungie system. Then I mounted an Aquameter II with their hardware and the base that allows the A II to be snapped-on and snapped-off to the upper, flat surface of the pipe cap. Works as well as the hard-mounts on the decks of my FG rigs, which have platforms for a compass, and nice to have the compass FORWARD of the deck bungies and out of the way of the other junk I have under 'em (chart, etc.). -- Dave Kruger Astoria, OR *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
