And a plug for another event: The Esopus Slalom, put on by the KCCNY, takes place on Saturday *and* Sunday at Railroad Rapid, which is just about as close to being in downtown Phoenicia, NY (off Route 28) as it could be without making them re-route Main Street. ;-) It's a class III that drops 9 meters in about 400 meters: that may not sound like a lot, but that works out to a gradient of 118 feet/mile. For comparison, the Loop on the Yough drops at about half that rate. All of which means that some of us will be sizzling through slalom gates fast and clean, and some of us will be crashing and burning for your entertainment. ;-) ---Rsk Rich Kulawiec rsk_at_gsp.org *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Jun 04 1998 - 18:45:53 PDT
