Don't think I will ever use the straps again. The idea was to give a more secure attachment for the paddle, rather than sliding the blade under the rear deck bungies. Does that, all right, but use of the straps also allows more play in the paddle/boat connection, and significantly increases the difficulty in getting onto the rear deck.
