Are you the guy who crossed the Bering Strait in a Mariner II?

I just took a fantastic lesson in the tidal stream of Deception Pass with
Rex Robertson of George Gronseth's school, using their rental Mariner II. I
thought the boat extremely easy to manage, even crossing strong eddylines in
5.8 knot currents and while surfing standing waves caused by boat wakes in
the moving water.

Are you still paddling this boat? I mainly paddle unloaded. Should I get
the sliding seat? If not, will I have to work hard to control the boat in
strong winds?

I already have a Mariner Express and have been told that it would have been
better than the II in the current. But I don't think so. Do you have an
opinion?

Jerry
