Hi Tom,
There are a number of interesting paddles around Mount Desert
depending upon what the wind and weather are up to on any particular day.
The boat launch area in downtown Bar Harbor is a good starting point for
a paddle out among the Porcupine Islands or a tour along the National
park coastline if you want a longer paddle. The beach at Seal Harbor
which is near Northeast Harbor is a good jumping off point for the
Cranberry Islands, Bakers Island, and again the National Park thougfh
clapotis is often a problem when approaching from this direction.
Launches in SW harbor offer paddles out to Gotts Island or over to Black
and Opechee Islands. Launching in Seal Cove is good for Moose, Bartlett,
etc. King's Creek offers a protected paddle up into an extensive salt
marsh if conditions are bad. Enjoy.
                                                   mark
