A belated thanks to all those who offered advice on installing a new bulkhead in my kayak. The idea for establishing the template shape from the outside (with soldering wire) was worth the price of admission alone! I'd envisioned bashing about inside the boat with cardboard - an almost literal example of not being able to "think outside the box (boat?)". (This problem with totally linear thinking reminded me of why I'd starve as a crook - I'd always been impressed with the sturdiness of "The Club" and similar steering wheel locks, until I watched a news show that revealed the bad guys don't dick around trying to cut through The Club - they just saw through the flimsy wheel rim. You have to admire creative thinking, even when it's in a bad cause!) Anyway I continue to mull the bulkhead idea over. Thanks again. It's like having my own personal brain trust and think tank to be able to tap into a collective experience of decades!
