I had the pleasure of paddling Cape Breton a few years back. A great area.
Never too far away from a village and some great coastline and history.
I also paddled from Scott's base Coastal Adventures at Tangier which was a
good starting point to head north from. Never saw another kayaker while
paddling. lots of islands to paddle to. Given that its only six hours
flying time from London I am a bit surprised its not visited more often
from Europe. For me its quicker to go there than to Scotland.
Scott has a web site and I guess he will take orders for the book;
http://www.grassroots.ns.ca/adnet/rec/coast/
Has a bit on the book and a list of the trips and courses. There is a
symposium on next weekend I think.
At our recent symposium he did a great slide show of the area.
