Though I have been using West System's epoxy for the past several years, the Coho kit comes with System III epoxy. I want to add some of the west system additives such as colloidal silica etc to the system III. Does anyone foresee a compatibility problem doing this either presently or down the road? mark *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
Colloidal silica from West is inert with respect to S3 resins. Most additives will work just fine. Just don't try mixing resins and hardeners from different systems! Roger Mark H. Kia Ora , I lost some of the reply's regarding adding wood flour etc. But my boat has a strip of between 4 " and 10 " wide (narrowes down at the sharp ends)which has a mixture of resin and carbarundum flour(the stuff grindstones and sandpaper are made of) .This protects the hull from dragging over sand beaches.I have heard it mention that alluminium oxide powder has also been used inplace of carbarundum.
