The marine electronics marketing world is interesting. Defintitions are not all they sound. In this case, I don't remember if Icom states the 3A to be waterproof or water resistant. There is a huge difference. Waterproof means... go ahead, roll with it on deck without a bag. Waterresistant means...splash or light rain is ok but don't ever drop it in the water. I have only found two truely waterproof radios. Standard and Raytheon make radios that meet the GMDSS specification for big ship lifeboat radios....they float and stuff. I have a waterresistant radio in a bag. Luckily, my bag didn't leak yet. Looking for other tricks too... *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Jul 07 1998 - 05:45:58 PDT
