First, thanks everyone for the information about Chesapeake Paddlers Association and the 303 spray for my kayak. I also paddle alone. I enjoy the solitude. I joined a local club with the intention of going out with a group but my schedule just hasn't allowed it. I am going to try to join CPA as I'd like to explore that area. I wouldn't think of going into rough water by myself or in areas where I'm unfamiliar with the terrain, but I feel comfortable being by myself in recreational areas and flatwater close to home. I post a trip schedule on my fridge and I make sure to get back home at or before the time that's posted. I also take the other basic precautions. -- ************************ D.R.
