RE: [Paddlewise] (not) downloading plug

I haven't worked with HTML, so I don't know if there is a workaround, but   one problem I have with downloading Web pages is that I usually lose the   graphics, which actually are separate files. A big advantage of Adobe   Acrobat (PDF) format is that everything is in one file. Other advantages:   it is multi-platform, it preserves the layout created by the author, and   it can either be viewed on the monitor or printed on your printer.

The only nuisance, in my opinion, is in downloading and installing the   Acrobat Reader on your computer, but you need to do this only once, and   since many software manufacturers are releasing documentation in Acrobat   format, you might as well have it on your system. At my company we are   converting all our user documents to Acrobat format both to save printing   costs and for free download from our Web site.

I've never had to register or receive followup mail for copies of Adobe
Acrobat -- seems like it's on just about every free CD that comes in the
mail or with a magazine. But I agree completely that it's a bloody
nuisance, and I wish people would just use HTML for widely distributed
documents.

I guess the only advantage I see to publishing stuff with AA is that it
makes it difficult for most people out there to alter your document.
