Philip Torens brought up the C-Light issue --- an important one. In addition to the dingy after deck light --- which I agree would not stand up to night commuting by kayak, but, then, I'm not in that league --- I use a C-Light on my PFD. In fact, Lotus' "Strait Jacket" PFD has a Velcro-sealed expansion loop high on the back of the vest incorporated to allow carrying a C-Light (or a small strobe), giving nearly the same aft coverage Philip may get from his more effective, but more elaborate, rig. Great light, ususally well priced at the chain boating stores, and an effective investment.
