I am a new to Sea Kayaking as well and used to have the exact same problem. Try rolling a towel up and placing it underneath your thighs. You may have to experiment to find just the right thickness but this resolved my problem completely. Properly fitting your seat out once you get your own canoe should preclude the need for a towel in the future. Hope this helps. Ciao! John D.
