 I once took a celestrial navigation class. The instructor was telling us
about taking a sextant sight from a bobbing sailboat. The object was to
estimate your height above sea level while doing your fix. The instructor
said, "Remember, you're not telling war stories to your buddies, so for for
the sake of accuracy, try not to exagerate the height of the waves too much".
