hope you know the serial numbers (I assume they have them, I know some of my
kayaks do and some don't) I would recommend reporting them to Eddyline in
Anacortes (the manufacture + a rental shop) as well as to all of the kayak
shops in the area - (Pacific Water Sports, NorthWest Outdoor Center, The one
I can't remember the name of that is on Lake Street in Kirkland - about 3
miles from Bellevue, etc.) I would also recommend posting a photo and reward
type poster at the public bulletin board that each of these shops mantain.
The more people that are aware of the boats history the better chance
someone may notice and call. I remember Noel Collamer up in Bellingham, WA
got his stolen kayak back last year, when someone else saw it being paddled
and called police, so it can happen. I would also check the paper each day
for the next month or two to see if they are being re-sold. If you get them
back, I would engrave your name inside the hull or even glass in a "dog tag"
somewhere on the inside. That makes it much easier to prove ownership later,
and if it's in an obscure location a thief probably won't notice it soon
enough to remove it. Just in case the theft was by local kids, I would also
post reward signs on telephone poles in the neighborhood (personal
experience on getting stuff back).
