Is that an oxymoron?

A friend lent me a copy of Atlantic Coast Sea Kayaker (I think) the
other day. In it was an article on how one might help someone else
attempting to get back in their boat in heavy seas. Heavy seas being
(to me) anything over steep 3-4 foot waves?

The suggestion was that the person in the water tie a towline to the two
kayaks. The person in the boat slowly paddles into the waves, preventing
the capsized kayak from broaching. They would make sure both boats
were not on separate waves at the same time.

The person in the water would then have the 'luxury' of bailing the
water out and/or attempting a self rescue without having waves crashing
over them.

Another advantage was the person in the boat would not have to go near
the one in the water and risk injuring them with their kayak.

Makes sense to me.
