Re foot pumps.. We have been using the Chimp Mk1 footpump manufactured by Henderson/Whale. They are rated at 18 litres per minute (sorry I don't work in US Gallons!), and plumbing is 1 inch hosing. I have seen one in particular that was installed in a UK boat and has given over 14 years of trouble free operation. They must be available through a marine store there, or alternatively for your nearest distributor you could try contacting the manufactureers (Munster Simms Engineering in Northern Ireland). They should have their web page set up by now. If all else fails I have several pumps about 6 feet behind me... Good luck! Put one in my Pintail a few months back, and the difference between it and the old afterdeck "chimp" pump --- or any of the other Irish "galley" pumps and electric pumps I tried, as well --- is night and day! And no batteries or switches to worry about. And you can pump out with your skirt on and the paddle in full use. Only one problem --- it'll pump out so much water so fast that your skirt's seal on the coaming, if it's a good one, will slow down the water outflow by creating a partial vacuum inside the cockpit --- and you'll see it as you pump out; the skirt will be sucked down into the cockpit!
