Another vote for the creature comfort seat. I really like mine.

I have that seat which I use under the sling seat in my 1996 Nautiraid 1
(I give the year since the regular seat has now been changed). It has
several virtues. It has two densities of closed cell foam plus it can
be inflated some. I use it to help with a psiatic nerve problem and to
give me some extra support. Cost is around $30 or so.

A better seat is the Creature Comfort seat that is sold through
Chesapeake Light Craft (kayaks_at_clcinc.com and 410-267-0137). This a
wonder seat and while costly (around $75-80) is worth its weight in
gold. It has a 2.5 inch slab of dense foam that has been anatomically
carved out to accomodate your tush. The thinnest part is just a
half-inch thick which keeps your center of gravity low (I recommend it
in my review of the Folbot Kodiak which is tippy feeling for a folding
kayak with its factory provided 3 inch seat). But since it it shaped to
your tush, you are only marginally resting on that half inch with the
main support up around your buttocks. It can be attached in a myriad of
ways including velcro which is provided in a wide width with a glued
down portion as well. Its attached seat back is superb in giving small
of the back support. The whole thing is covered in nylon mesh for
speedy drying.

I would use it in my Nautiraid 1 except that the ribs are too close
together and one rib raises the front more than I like. I may try it
again as I only tested it when my psiatic nerve was really at its worse.

BTW, the one I have I bought full price from CLC. No gift. No paid
endorsement.

best,

ralph
